Excelling on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals

On November 8th, JCI The Netherlands is organizing the WeDo2030! festival in Amsterdam. It will be the ideal event for businesses, NGOs, governmental agencies and citizens to take action towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and Nobel prize winner, will share with us his vision of working towards a better world. An array of companies and non-profit organizations will also give us a peek into the actions they are taking. This is your chance to learn from their experiences, hear their tips, and share your own ideas. Let’s see how far The Netherlands has come in achieving these Sustainable Development Goals.

“Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development." - Mr. Kofi Annan

Achieving More

Education for every child, equal rights for all, and no more famine. It is achievable if people around the world take action, also in The Netherlands. There is little a single person can do to solve the world’s biggest problems. But together with others, there is much more we can do. The UN has called for governments, businesses, NGOs and citizens around the world to join forces in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the time between now and 2030, the UN hopes to be able to eradicate poverty, inequality and climate change. And every single one of us can contribute.

Sharing and Doing

At the WeDo2030! festival, we will hear from speakers Martijn Aslander, Thomas Rau, Claire Boonstra, Daan Roosegaarde and Rutger Bregman, who will tell their inspiring stories and generate even more energy for reaching these sustainability goals. In addition to our speakers, there will be individual pavilions set up for each of the 17 SDGs. Organizations working toward these individual goals – such as food waste or clean energy – will be exhibiting their activities there. Are you curious to know what is being done to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals? Do you have personal ideas for making the world a better place that you want to share with others? Then this is the perfect opportunity to work together to make things happen!
