Driven sustainability professional, passionate about assisting clients in improving their overall ESG performance and aligning sustainability with their core business objectives | katharina@finchandbeak.com

My curiosity and passion for the environment and sustainability were sparked when I worked for companies ranging from large international enterprises to small local brands within the fashion and retail industry. Already enthusiastic about building strong networks within this sector, I was captivated by the diversity of business approaches, commitment, and strategic outlook toward sustainability. From these experiences I grasped that any business can, with determination, accelerate their sustainability performance.

Additionally, with an academic background in sustainable management, I have a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities that businesses face in today's rapidly changing world. I’m excited to share my knowledge and expertise through strategic and accessible approaches to sustainability to create actionable insights and impactful results. I firmly believe that any individual, organization, or network has the power to make a significant positive impact on its ecosystem.

My background:

  • Master’s degree in Leadership for Sustainability from Malmö University, Sweden
  • Master's Thesis: Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) | An analysis of the pre-implementation process and impact of the CSRD on organizational processes and structures
  • Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from Oregon State University, USA | Minors in Sustainability and Organizational Leadership
  • Internship at: Oregon State University | College of Business Human Resource and Management Association President
  • Fluent in English, basic communication in German

Colleagues would describe me as:
Organized, motivated, adaptable, and caring.

Which book should everybody read:
The Culture Map: Breaking Through the Invisible Boundaries for Global Business by Erin Meyers. Centering on various dimensions that capture the complexities of working within our growing global contexts, this practical book not only frames difficult concepts, but also provides strategies for improving international business success. The insights Meyers outlines are relevant in a plethora of circumstances, from everyday encounters, to addressing communication on sustainability, as it lays a foundation for understanding how to navigate and work effectively through complexity.

Best advice I ever got:
Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.

Something surprising about me:
I am fascinated by visual design and various mediums of art. With my past experiences in the fashion industry and professional organizing, I see a direct connection to how our designed environments affect our lives.

What I do for fun:

  • Playing beach volleyball
  • Trying new plant-based recipes
  • Exploring nature and traveling
